About

A garden design tool, built by one person

Gardenly turns a photo of your garden into realistic design concepts, plant lists, and care plans you can actually act on.

Niels Bosman

Founder of Gardenly

I'm Niels, a software engineer from the Netherlands, and I build and run Gardenly on my own. The idea came from a familiar problem: standing in a garden, unable to picture what it could become. Inspiration photos show someone else's space. Landscape designers are worth their fee, but many people just want to explore ideas before they commit to anything.

Gardenly closes that gap. You upload a photo, pick a style, and see your own garden redesigned in seconds, with a plant list matched to your climate and a plan for keeping everything alive. Alongside the product I write practical guides on the Gardenly blog about garden planning, plant selection, and seasonal decisions, based on product research and public horticultural references.

Because it's just me, every support email lands in my inbox and every feature exists because a real user asked for it or I needed it myself.

What Gardenly does

One photo in, a complete garden plan out.

Photorealistic redesigns

Upload a photo of your garden and get realistic design concepts that respect your layout, light, and existing hardscape.

Climate-adapted plant lists

Every design comes with species-level plant recommendations suited to your local growing zone, with quantities and care notes.

26+ design styles

From Japanese zen to cottage charm, explore styles against your own space instead of someone else’s inspiration board.

Maintenance schedules

Personalized seasonal checklists so you know what to plant, prune, and water, and when to do it.

What I'm not

I'm not a licensed landscape architect, and Gardenly doesn't pretend to be one. The designs, plant lists, and guides are educational planning resources for homeowners: a way to explore ideas, compare styles, and walk into a nursery or a landscaper's office with a clear brief.

For construction, permits, drainage, grading, structural work, and anything safety-critical, pair what Gardenly gives you with local expert advice. A good local professional knows your soil, your regulations, and your weather in ways no software can.
